The Friday Five
Oct. 22nd, 2021 08:26 pm1. What was a skill you were proud to learn as a kid? My Dad’s hobby was art, and he was very good at it. He was a printer by trade so art, composition and a visual leaning was very important to him. When I was very young, he quickly realised that I was interested in colours and pictures and was most likely following in his artistic ‘bent’. He encouraged me very actively, and it’s thanks to him that art was a huge part of my early life, and still is. Art and creativity defined me from the earliest time I can remember,
2. What's something you used to be good at, but can't do any more? I’m not going to say I ‘can’t’ do it any more, but I used to be obsessed with horse riding in my early years, right up until my thirties. I haven’t ridden now probably for more than fifteen years. I really hope to do it again soon, but I need to be aware of the fact that I’m fifteen years older and horse riding is an extremely physical sport. There’s also the ‘keeping my nerve’ thing, so when I do get to ride again, I don’t know if I’ll slip back into it comfortably, or whether I’ll be a physical and nervous wreck!
3. What's something you haven't done in a long time, but you could pick it right back up again with some practice? Oddly enough, the horse riding answer above could apply equally to this!
4. What can you teach others to do? I have done a few pastel art tutorials
5. What would you like to learn next? I’ve volunteered to train as a mental health first aider at work next year, so that’s something I’m really excited about.
